July is Disability Pride Month

Be sure to celebrate Disability Pride Month this July! Take a moment to celebrate the incredible diversity within our community. This month is not about recognizing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities but also about celebrating and acknowledging their strengths, resilience, and unique perspectives. Why July? It marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) passed in 1990. A landmark legislation that broke down barriers to inclusion in society.

Disability Pride Month is a time to amplify the voices of those who have often been marginalized, to advocate for inclusivity in all aspects of life, and to promote accessibility as a fundamental right. It's about fostering a society where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive and contribute fully.

Let's use this month to raise awareness, educate ourselves and others, and challenge stereotypes and misconceptions. It's an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences, to build empathy and understanding, and to work towards a more equitable and accessible future for all.

To my friends, family, colleagues, and community members with disabilities: your strength, courage, and determination inspires me every day. Your stories deserve to be heard, your achievements celebrated, and your rights upheld. Together, let's continue to advocate for a world where diversity is celebrated, barriers are removed, and everyone can live their lives to the fullest.

Happy Disability Pride Month!
